#WeAreTheBoaty!
Formed by award-winning Director and Theatre Practitioner, Laura J Harris, we are The Boaty Theatre Company!
We might seem like the new kids on the block, but we have a wealth of EXPERIENCE driving this boat with PASSION and DETERMINATION always at the helm. And, yes... we do puns!
From our hometown in Ellesmere Port we create and produce award-winning, internationally recognised theatre and live performance of all kinds. We build exciting works that challenge and entertain. We work with exceptional artists, performers and creatives to deliver engaging performances in all kinds of underused and unexpected spaces, challenging preconceptions of what theatre means and what it can be.
YOUTH | PROFESSIONAL | COMMUNITY
Through our professional productions and our youth performances we provide opportunities for young people to train and gain valuable, real life experience in the performing and production arts industries.
We provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages young people to explore and to thrive, not only as performers and artists, but as individuals working as part of a creative team.
Our young theatre makers have performed at some of the leading theatres across the country - including The Crucible (Sheffield), The Lowry (Salford) and Storyhouse (Chester) - as well as historical sites - including St George's Hall (Liverpool) and Chester Castle.
twisted | SHAKESPEARE | creative
We are well-known for our inventive adaptations of the works of William Shakespeare, always finding an interesting and contemporary spin on these classic plays, keeping them fresh and relevant, earning our adaptations the nickname TWISTED SHAKESPEARE!
in 2019 we were invited by the ROYAL SHAKESPEARE COMPANY to take two of our Twisted Shakespeare productions to the birthplace of the Bard himself - Stratford-upon-Avon - and perform in the RSC Gardens as part of their celebrated open-air Dell Festival.
Besides this, we also deliver fun and educational workshops for schools and colleges. These range from 1-3 days and cover individual plays, historical and social context, actors' perspective, understanding language and text and so much more.
Every workshop is tailored to the specific needs of the school, or key stage group.
Our CREATIVE SHAKESPEARE WORKSHOPS have won international acclaim and have been delivered across the UK and abroad by our Educational Team and in partnership with with our sister company, Chalice Productions .

In addition to our groups for Young Theatre Makers, we facilitate a variety of inter-generational activities including community theatre activities, a weekly Bo-Tea Bookclub, Crafternoon sessions, Guitar skillshare groups and our ever-popular "Sunday Social" afternoons.
Our mission is always to create a sense of belonging and community that extends beyond the walls of the theatre, making live performance and the creative arts accessible to all.
