I attended the NATIONAL THEATRE Director's Weekend last October.
This was a brilliant weekend that allowed me to meet up with some of the other Connections Directors from across the country and talk about the different plays we were all presenting with our youth groups and consider why they are each so important and relevent to all of us.
Beyond this, I was also able to atttend a number of wonderful workshops in VOICE, PHYSICALITY, and CLOWNING deliverd by some of the leadeing practitioners in their fields; the lessons of which I have taken on board and brought home with me to impliment in my own approach to 'making theatre'. Thank you to you all!
One the most exciting parts of the weekend for me was meeting up with Chris Thompson - the amazing Playwright of "Dungeness" and Rob Hastie, Artistic Director of the Crucible Theatre and talking through / loosely workshopping some ideas for and about "Dungeness".
Being a largley LGBT+ youth theatre group we were so delighted to gain "Dungeness" as our assigned, play as it was our 1st choice play. The play resonates for so many members of our cast and crew, and it has been a truly emotional journey so far.
We are delighted to be presenting our home performances of "Dungeness" during LGBT History Month and will be performing at NATIONAL WATERWAYS MUSEUM, Ellesmere Port on 23 &24 February 2018 and STORYHOUSE, Chester on 28 February 2018.
